Laundry in the News
DormHealth.org addresses several key challenges faced by students with on-campus laundry facilities:
- Limited Machine Availability: With UCLA dorms transitioning to triples, more students will rely on the same number of machines, making open washers and dryers increasingly hard to find.
- Health & Hygiene Concerns: Clean linens help prevent the buildup of bacteria & allergens, but packed laundry rooms and irregular wash cycles make maintaining hygiene a challenge.
- Time-Intensive Process: With demanding schedules and crowded laundry facilities, students often go weeks between washes, making it harder to keep up with fresh linens.

Frequently asked questions
General Information
What is DormHealth.org?
DormHealth.org offers a specialized linen service for college students, supplying our branded bed & bath linens to university dormitories and routinely exchanging used sets for freshly laundered replacements. Our mission is to promote health and convenience in student living spaces by ensuring regular access to clean, comfortable linens.
Who can use DormHealth.org?
Our services are available exclusively to UCLA students who live in on-campus housing or within our designated service area.
Health and Hygiene
Why is regular linen exchange important for health?
Regularly changing linens and towels helps reduce allergens, bacteria, and other germs that can accumulate over time, promoting a healthier living environment. Fresh linens also contribute to better sleep quality and overall well-being. We highly recommend exchanging weekly to maximize these health benefits.
How are linens cleaned?
All linens and towels are professionally laundered using commercial-grade equipment and eco-friendly, hypoallergenic detergents to ensure they are fresh, sanitized, and luxurious.
The process includes:
- High-temperature washing (150°F+) to eliminate bacteria and germs.
- Multiple washing cycles, to ensure deep cleaning and thorough rinsing.
- Commercial-grade detergents & oxygen bleach for deep sanitization.
- Non-toxic disinfection using hydrogen peroxide for added cleanliness.
- High-temperature drying to ensure linens are perfectly clean, soft, and ready for use.
This multi-step process utilizes hospital-grade methods to surpass hospitality industry standards, ensuring exceptional cleanliness and the luxury of five-star accommodations with every exchange.
What happens to linens and towels once they are no longer usable?
When linens reach the end of their lifespan, they are responsibly recycled or repurposed.
Service Plans and Exchanges
What service plans are available?
DormHealth.org offers three service options:
- Annual Plan: Covers Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters with weekly linen exchanges (30 per academic year / 10 per quarter).
- Quarterly Plan: Covers one academic quarter (Fall, Winter, or Spring) with weekly linen exchanges (10 per quarter).
- Summer Plan: Covers a single summer session (A, B, or C) and includes weekly exchanges for the session duration.
What is included in a weekly set?
Each exchange provides a fresh set of linens consisting of:
- 1 Twin XL fitted sheet
- 1 Twin XL flat sheet
- 1 Large pillowcase
- 1 Large towel
How do exchanges work?
- Bring your used linens to the designated DormHealth.org exchange location during the scheduled exchange periods.
- DormHealth.org staff will verify your identity using your BruinCard.
- You will receive a fresh set of linens immediately.
Can I exchange just my towel instead of my whole linen set?
Yes! If you choose, rather than exchanging your whole set in a given week, you may exchange just your towel. This will count as your exchange for the week, meaning you will not be able to swap your bed linens or towel again until the following week.
We only accept partial linen swaps for towels. If you wish to get new bed linens, you must bring your bed linens and towel together for a full set exchange.
Do I have to be there in person for the exchange?
Yes, for the exchange to run smoothly, you need to bring your used linens and your student ID to the designated exchange location.
How long does it take to exchange my linens?
The exchange process is quick and efficient—usually taking less than a couple minutes.
What happens if I miss my exchange?
DormHealth.org provides a wide exchange window and communicates exchange days weekly. If you miss your exchange period, we are not obligated to facilitate a makeup exchange. It is your responsibility to attend during the designated window.
Pricing & Payment
How much does the service cost?
Pricing details for all plans are available here.
What payment methods are accepted?
DormHealth.org accepts major credit and debit cards. Payments are due at the start of each billing term.

- Summer Service: No, this plan does not auto-renew.
How do I cancel my plan?
Cancellations can be made via your DormHealth.org account or by contacting customer support, and they take effect at the end of the last Saturday of Finals Week for your enrolled quarter or academic year. However, no refunds are issued for unused portions of your subscription.
Pick-Up, Returns & Break Policy
When do I initially pick up my linens?
- Fall: Available between the first freshman move-in day and the Sunday before instruction begins, during communicated time slots.
- Winter & Spring: Available one week before instruction begins for new enrollees or students who did not retain linens over break, during communicated time slots.
- Summer Service: Available on your summer session’s UCLA move-in date.
- If you enroll after the start of the quarter/session, you may pick up linens on the next scheduled exchange day.
What is the break policy?
Students are recommended to keep their linens over Winter and Spring Breaks and can exchange them again on the first exchange day of the new quarter. However, if you wish to return your linens before break, you may do so during the designated time slots in Finals Week and then follow the pickup guidelines for the next quarter.
When do I need to return my linens?
- Quarterly and Annual Plans: All students must return linens by the Saturday immediately following the last Friday of final exams in Spring Quarter.
- Summer Service: Linens must be returned by the last day of your summer session.
- Non-Renewals: If you are not renewing, linens must be returned during Finals Week of your respective plan.
Lost or Damaged Linens
What if I lose or damage my linens?
If any items are missing or damaged at exchange, you must sign a waiver during exchange acknowledging the loss or damage. Replacement fees are $30 per item, unless covered by optional insurance.
How does insurance work?
Insurance must be purchased during checkout of your respective plan.
- Quarterly/Summer Service Insurance: Covers one full set replacement for the purchased term.
- Annual Plan Insurance: Covers one full set replacement per quarter.
- If additional items are lost beyond what is covered, you will be charged $30 per item.
What constitutes damage?
Damage is any condition that renders linens unsuitable for future use, excluding normal wear and tear. Examples of damage include:
- Permanent stains (e.g., ink, dye, bleach, oil, or food stains that cannot be removed)
- Tears and rips that compromise fabric integrity
- Burns and scorch marks from heat exposure
- Permanent alterations such as cutting, sewing, or dyeing
- Offensive odors that do not dissipate after laundering

Normal wear and tear includes minor fading, slight fabric pilling, and light fraying that does not affect usability.
